Absurd Vintage Hi Fi Website

Good fkkng god.  3,300 original hi-fi catalogs and datasheets scanned (in good quality), cataloged, and uploaded.  Get ready to be 10% less productive for the next two months.  The vintage knob dot org.  Well done sir.

This is mostly the solid state crap that we have been trying to get away from since the late 80s, when it began to dawn on our minds that, you know, that old tube stuff did sound better. It features parts you can’t get either now, plus cosmetics that remind you of the days when you caught your little brother pounding it while looking at a Carly Simon album cover, plus, oh yeah, lousy sonics. What’s not to dislike?

Don’t get me wrong: some solid state gear does sound very good. My main room listening system is in fact all solid state: Norm Thagard designed phono stage, Accuphase T-100 tuner, Benchmark DAC, modified Hafler line stage and modified Hafler P230 power amp. But with the exception of the Accuphase tuner, none of it is mass market Japanese. It’s mostly tweak-DIY stuff. My other systems are mostly all tube.
