What we have is an honest eBay seller. I'm glad someone had the balls to say what needs saying because it is so.
Let's be blunt. The size of a mic locker is to recording quality what male member size is to sex. Porn stars (male) are hired because theirs is huge, but that's strictly for visuals. Porn is a visual medium. A big one looks impressive onscreen or in the locker room but has nothing to do with function.
You do not need either a huge assortment of mics nor any that are very expensive to make outstanding recordings. That might have not been true thirty years ago, relatively speaking, but it surely is now. You need one or two large diaphragm condenser mics and a ribbon and a few SM-57s and 58s, and a drum mic kit and a couple other odds and ends. If it isn't going to get done with that it isn't going to get done with a truckload of vintage electrodildos.
Pro studios, such as still exist, buy this crap because customers expect and want it and they have made a business decision to buy it. The less pecunious operator does not need it.
Kudos to this seller for not eating the brownloaf any more.
