Gray Research, Hartford CT: 103-LP tonearm and 602 equalizer circa 1950

download the 4pp circa 1950 Gray Research sales flier for the model 103-LP Transcription Arm and the model 602 disc equalizer:

Gray was located in Hartford, CT, just a stone’s throw from here, from roughly 1950 through 1970.  feel free to correct me if you personally know otherwise.  I have come across very little original Gray literature and equipment in my 13 years here.

There seems to be very little information on the internet about this company, other than this nice archive.

If you or a family member worked at Gray, please drop us a line.

  • Hello,

I can not download the "GrayResearch_103_602". What would be the reason?

    regards

    • Hi. I just tried it. The link does work. its a little tricky. Wordpress sucks these days. You may need to click thru a few times. Good luck.

      • Thank you, chris. But my trials have not yet led to success.

Probably because I have set the 103SLP incorrectly in my turntable, I have destroyed phono cartridges. So I want to know how I should attach the 103SLP into the record player board, in the relation to the spindle of the turntable.
The length between the pivot of the 103SLP and the spindle of the turntable is told to be on the one hand 14inch in the material (mounting diagram) which can be downloaded on this site: Gray Research 103-S Transcription Tonearm Manual | Vinyl Engine
But on the other hand, the distance is told to be 13 5/8 inch on the same page of the material.
Even more problematic is the following: The appropriate overhang cannot be possible if the length between the pivot of the 103SLP and the spindle is 14 inch or 13 5/8 inch because the length between the stylus of the attached 103 SLP and the pivot is 13.5 inch.
Will you please tell me the correct length?
