I have 4 of those locking Peavey boxes, but thankfully no Peavey microphones. They have a few of my mics like an old Reslo ribbon, a few EV 654 Omni mics, a few Shure 546 mics and a box full of old connectors. I don't the keys so I hope to never get locked out.

The lock wouldn't keep a thief from stealing the whole thing, I am sure it wasn't a matter of much thought: the locking case probably cost very little more and they figured it would keep somebody happy.

Some singers do get very proprietary about their mic for sanitary reasons. No biggie. Every singer should, in fact, own their own stage mic, as they aren't that expensive, and serious ones should be encouraged to buy a good recording mic. Nancy Sinatra is very proprietary about her Neumann, for instance. Debbie Harry uses a SM57 given her as an award from Circus magazine a lot, too, as I recall.

Not a big deal and it keeps your expenses down and mic locker sizequeenism in check. So let it be, I figure.
