In the last schematic, the diy 1954 hifi preamp, is there an error? I refer specifically to the cathode of the 12ax7 on the second stage of the top half of the preamp. Is that cathode meant to be going to ground via the 3300 ohm resistor, not to B+? Just trying to get my head around it…

It’s similar but not a clone. It does perform better, but not much. WE amplifiers with one or two exceptions are not high fidelity.(The KS units made by Mc or others are.)

Sowter in the UK did them but quit because the design was a nightmare. Ask them.
