thank you very, very much for the fantastic article! I am 73 yo and was at Woodstock w-a-y back when the world was a much kinder place! I only wish i could have stuck with the guitar lessons my Mom got me when i was 10 yo, the metal strings hurt my fingers so much i stopped that effort! Anyway I came across 3 of these amps a few weeks ago and am selling them on ebay, your article is so awesome i am posting links to it on every one of the 3 item pages! I got to your article BC I originally couldn't figure out where the input was but guessed it was the 4 hole deal! billy s.

I just scored something very similar to the URS, it's a "Hollywood Film Company Model 1 amp", the logo is a green, yellow and red flag.
It has the shape of the Ediquip 1027A solid state but it's silver hammertone and has a 6AQ5, a 5879 and a 12AX7 Amperex (bugleboy) and RCA tubes!.
It sounds so good.

Hi,

Just picked up one of these URS amps. I was wondering of any resources out there to show the conversion steps. Something with some pictures would be great. I am fairly proficient working with small electronics and I am aware of the dangers/procedures to discharge capacitors, just looking for some direction.

Thanks,
John

Hi Kenn. actually the mic in that photo is a Royer. The standard studio ribbon for gtr amps. The audio-technica branding you see in on the shockmount. Not the mic.

The photo is associated with the text block below the photo. Not above it. Rest assured, the audio clips on the page were made with a shure sm57.
