I edited hundreds of releases for Proarte and Intersound in the 80's and 90's. It sounded better than the 1610 and 1630 and was pretty trouble free. We were one of 3 studios that bought the system when it came out. Edits were amazingly accurate. Those were the days!

Benny Quinn and Milan Bogdan at Masterfonics did outstanding mastering / editing with the JVC 900.
Mixed with the Sony 1630 digital 2 track.
The work I enjoy most was in 1988 working on the bluegrass "supergroup" Strength In Numbers - The Telluride Sessions.
Incredible dynamics.
What a band! Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Mark O'Connor, Edgar Meyer & Jerry Douglas.

Asia’s second album Alpha was recorded in analog and mixed with the JVC BP90. In my opinion that album sounds like total crap especially compared with their pristine debut. Often wondered if it had anything to do with early digital equipment but seeing here that Adam’s Cuts Like a Knife was mixed with the same system, and that album by the way sounds great, I’m thinking it was just a terrible mix.

I have John Jarvis' "So Fa So Good" jazz album, which was recorded with a Sony PCM 701 es and transferred to the JVC Digital 900. Some of the tunes were actually recorded directly to the 900. I have a 501 es and a non-functional 601 esd. The former works great, but lacks SPDIF or AES/EBU.

I am a semi retired classical record producer who has made many of my recordings on the JVC Digital Audio Processor 900. I have one complete with the Digital Audio Editor 900 and the two t/c VHS recorders with very low hours if anyone is interested for a modest sum. It cost me $84,000!! I have the manuals and flight cases. I made several of my recordings at the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican and Fairfield Halls with this equipment which never let me down and was unlike the 1610 an 18bit system. I have had mine adapted to output AES/EBU SONY protocol as well as the proprietary JVC.
