Download the four-page circa 1975 ‘Bozak Compact Speakers’ Catalog:

Catalog contains photos and specs for the Bozak Rhapsody, Tempo II (Tempo 2), and Sonora speaker units.

Bozak is another important chapter in Connecticut audio history.  The famous manufacturer of legendarily large home hi-fi speakers was based in Connecticut for the entirety of their 30-year heyday.  Pennsylvania native Rudy Bozak set up shop in Stamford in 1951,  later moving to South Norwalk and Darien, with operations in several other towns.  Wikipedia has an excellent and thorough treatment of Bozak, the man, his myriad technical innovations, and the long history of the company.  No need to re-tread those waters; I will add this though: growing up in Connecticut, enormous 225-lb Bozak Concert Grand loudspeakers were a memorable site in the homes of some of my friends; a room-dominating testament to the intensity of a largely lost culture of audiophiles.

  • I HAVE A PAIR OF BOZAK SPEAKERS BUT I AM HAVING TROUBLE IDENTIFYING THEM AS TO MAKE AND MODEL, HAS A 12 IN. WOOFER AND 4-5 IN. TWEETER ON TOP IN CORNER AREA, HAS CABINET DOORS WHICH CLOSE AND LATCH, AND AN AMPLIFIER INSIDE THE SPEAKER ENCLOSURE, THEY MEASURE APPROXIMATELY 24 IN. WIDTH, 24 IN. DEPTH AND ABOUT 36 IN. HEIGHT

  • I am guessing what you describe as an amplifier inside is really the crossover unit that directs the correct freq. to the correct component.

Best guess on the model is the B-302 Moorish

  • I have a pair of rather large and heavy Bozak model # C3,4000 A Modern. They have a couple different ways you can hook them up, BiAmp, Single Amp. What can you tell about them ? What they might be worth if I want to sell in the future?

  • I have a pair of Bozak B 401 Rhapsody in mint condition. Original gold weave fabric grill. I am considering selling them. Could anyone tell me what I should expect to get for them. Thanks

  • Bozak did offer the choice of the customer's building their own systems, and during the time that they came out ,60's and 70's people where building systems in wall's of home's, when ordering a speaker system you could ask for the system to be biamped, bozak's price range can range from $70.00 for the compact listener series, that is bookshelf,Rhapsody B-401 $200.00 to $300.00 depending on condition and finish,Symphony $500.00 to $800.00 depending on condition and finish, Concert Grand $800.00 to 1,200.00, some Bozak's were wired wrong at the factory,if you purchased them from a private owner and they purchased the kit, check that the wiring is done correctly, coming from the factory they would have beem stapled to the cabinet and in color codes from the crossover, also bozaks will need there crossover's updated with new componets, because the cap's will drift out of specification, the midranges are also known to have it's coated pant peel off over time because of the age of the system,Bozak woofer's cannot be reconed!! so do not try it,Mr Rudy t Bozak had a proprietary way of making his woofer cones and some of the tweeters of certain years would fail.Bozak's are great systems and sound better with tube amplification.enjoy

  • I am converting a Bozak 199A woofer and a Bozak 200y tweeter assembly back to its original coaxial configuration and need to know the type cross over which attaches to the back of the 199A. Are these readily available?

    thanks,

    John

      • I would reccommend you check out the Yahoo Bozak group. There is tons of information, as well as schematics, sales brochures, etc. Also members that have been using and collecting Bozak speakers for decades, that might be able to answer any questions.

        Mike

        • For the last half year or so, people have been having great difficulty getting authorized to post messages on the Yahoo Bozak forum. If you can get on there, great. Otherwise I can answer your questions about Bozak crossovers, models, drivers, et cetra.

            Thanks

  • If you can send me more info about B-401 speakers in spanish please.

I am mexican and i have 4 of this speakers since 1974.

    Tanks

  • I have a pair of 401's I bought in the mid 1970's. Best speakers ever. I am looking to purchase at least one hopefully 2 for an addition to my stereo set up. I can replace the grill cloth. The speaker(s) would need to be in good condition sound wise and appearance (if possible).
